The St. Croix River... the Boundary Waters
The St. Croix River and the Chiputneticook Lakes form part of the boundary between Canada and the U.S. It is known for good canoeing on a mixture of gentle water and exciting rapids.
This trip begins on the Chiputneticook and Spednik Lakes. After some time exploring the lakes, the journeys takes us across the Vanceboro Dam and into the St. Croix River proper. There is one class III rapid that is called Little Falls and it can be canoed or portaged.
Moose habitat is abundant so the odds of seeing these majestic animals is good. There are also many eagles and osprey due to the large wildlife habitat. Campsites are rustic and are located on islands or on the bank of the river.
We’ll take our time and enjoy the journey. Naturally, we’ll eat well. So join us for a meander through this scenic and varied trip.
